Our Races

Overview

NRC organise two races during the year: an off-road race, the Ironwood Challenge 10k(ish), in February and a road race, the Beer & Banger 10k(ish), in June. Both races now have chip timing.

Each race offers a different terrain and challenge and is open to runners of all levels and abilities. Our races are fully marshalled and well signed, with full first aid cover, water stops, and refreshments at the finish line.

Ironwood Challenge

Date: Sunday 22 February 2026

Distance: 10k (ish)

Registration: Ironwood 2026

More Information: Now with chip timing

Ironwood is our first race of the year and is a circular 10k(ish) run starting at Long Ashton Community Centre.

The route climbs steadily up into the surrounding woodland and then across a few open fields to take in the local scenery before heading back into the Forestry Commission woodland, where the route passes through an old quarry (a little climb) down the odd hill (and of course back up!), before crossing open farmland to finish back at the Centre. It is a notoriously challenging and fulfilling run with great views, and there is cake for all runners at the end!

Beer and Banger

Date: 26th June 2026

Distance: 10k (ish)

Registration: not yet open

More Information:

Join us for our well-known, exhilarating race on our home turf at Nailsea and Backwell Rugby Club.

This (mostly) road race takes you on a two-lap undulating yet fast rural course on Nailsea’s scenic country lanes. If you finish, you will be rewarded with a scrumptious locally sourced sausage in a bun (vegan and GF options available) and a refreshing pint (or soft drink) from the bar, all included in the price of the run. So, whether you’re a seasoned runner or a relatively new one, come and challenge yourself and then enjoy some delicious post-race treats. (There will also be a full bar, and hot dogs will be on sale for non-runners.)
